Primary Program

We are committed to providing a stimulating and supportive environment where each child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

At 7 Continents Montessori, our Primary Program caters to children aged 2.9 – 6 years old, building upon the foundational principles of Maria Montessori’s educational philosophy. This program is designed to nurture the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of each child in a supportive and enriching environment.

Key Features

Mixed-Age Classrooms: Our Primary classroom features a mixed-age group (2.9 – 6 years old), which allows younger children to learn from older peers and older children to reinforce their knowledge by mentoring younger ones. This fosters a collaborative and supportive community.

Montessori Materials: The classroom is equipped with a wide range of Montessori materials designed to facilitate hands-on learning across various domains such as language, mathematics, practical life, sensorial exploration, and cultural studies. These materials are carefully selected to meet the developmental needs and interests of each child.

Child-Centered Approach: Teachers act as guides, observing each child’s interests and abilities, and providing individualized lessons and activities. Children are encouraged to follow their own pace of learning and explore topics deeply, promoting a lifelong love for learning.

Practical Life Skills: Children engage in practical life activities that enhance their independence, concentration, coordination, and care for the environment. These activities include tasks like pouring, cleaning, gardening, and food preparation, which also promote fine motor skills and self-esteem.

Language and Literacy: Language development is emphasized through phonetic awareness, vocabulary enrichment, storytelling, and writing activities. Children have access to a variety of reading materials and are encouraged to express themselves through spoken and written language.

Sensorial: Use materials and activities to help children develop their five senses: Sight (visual discrimination materials like wooden cylinders, square prisms, color tablets, and geometric planes), Hearing (sound discrimination materials like cylinders filled with different grains, etc), Touch (tactile discrimination materials like boards and tablets with sandpaper, fabrics with different textures, and tablets with different weights), Taste (gustatory sense materials like four basic tastes and numerous foods), Smell (olfactory sense materials like jars and smelling substances).

Mathematics: Mathematical concepts are introduced concretely through manipulative materials, allowing children to understand abstract concepts like numeration, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This hands-on approach promotes a deep understanding of mathematical principles.

Cultural Studies: Children explore topics in geography, history, botany, zoology, art, and music through hands-on materials and activities. This broadens their understanding of the world and encourages respect for different cultures and perspectives.

Outdoor Education: Outdoor play and exploration are integral parts of our Primary Program, providing children with opportunities for physical activity, exploration of nature, and social interaction in a safe and stimulating environment.

Social and Emotional Learning: Teachers support children in developing social skills such as cooperation, conflict resolution, empathy, and respect for others. They foster a sense of community and help children navigate their emotions in a positive and constructive manner.

Parent Partnership: We value strong partnerships with parents, offering regular communication, parent education workshops, and opportunities for involvement in their child’s learning journey.
